Pin Wall is a public artwork by Sara Hughes and Gregor Kregar, commissioned by Napier City Council and situated on the side of the MTG Hawkes Bay building. The work is influenced by a collection of 19th century pin cushions and the Avis Higgs design archive, held at the museum.
"We have referenced a design for a textile print by Avis Higgs depicting New Zealand flora and fauna and turned it into a mosaic of colour" - Sara Hughes

Recently Avis Higgs stepped onto her own plaque – one of a number celebrating artists, writers, film makers, and composers who have lived or worked in Thorndon, Wellington.
Organised by the local Tinakori Road store owners in conjunction with the urban designers of the Wellington City Council and the Thorndon Society as an upgrade to the retail centre and to promote Thorndon’s history as a hub of artistic talent.
Others honoured include Frances Hodgkins, Katherine Mansfield, Charles Heaphy, Rita Angus, Thomas McCormack, Douglas Lilburn, Jane Campion, Dame Janet Paul, Dorothy K. Richmond, Kirsty Gunn and Valerie Beere (Avis’s sister in law).
The new Clyde Quay apartments developed by Willis Bond with Athfield Architects have installed carpet by Dilana in many of the landings. Three designs were chosen by different artists. Avis Higgs’ Flax design is featured on various landings in several different colourways.
