New Zealand born Avis Higgs is an award winning painter and one of Australasia’s most innovative textile designers of the 1940s.
This design was part of the portfolio that Avis took to England. Avis would go to the Dominion Museum for inspiration. There she would draw Te Hau ki Turanga, the carvings influenced motif in some of her designs. Here she has used a bright colour scheme and given the design movement
