New Zealand born Avis Higgs is an award winning painter and one of Australasia’s most innovative textile designers of the 1940s.
Nearly 70 years after it was designed, Avis Higgs' 'Heart of the Bush' has been printed onto fabric.
It has been printed as a short run on a trial basis. Chairs have been covered by Living Room (www.livingroom.co.nz) and look fantastic.

In Wartime Sydney, fabrics and dyes were in short supply. In the early years of the war heavy cotton was available, and single colour printing was mainly done. This design is from that period.
